REFLECT: Term 1 of 4

Phew.

Pardon me for the delay of this post. I've been quite busy with several responsibilities - university submissions, creating articles for my virtual internship, and some personal stuff. Needless to say, I need to upgrade my time management skills. I mean, there are people juggling law school and photoshoots, or even write songs while on tour. And that's me talking without searching anything on Google.

For last week's pecha kucha presentation, I didn't really do a good job. I got to go first, but I prepared a content that's not exactly accurate to the brief. Also, it seems like everyone else is preparing their blog in a same pattern, and I'm the odd one out. Am I doing something wrong? I saw some really good portfolios though, and it gives a good motivation of what we, as fashion marketers, are capable of. The general feedback from my lecturer is to make the blog more fashion-focused.

I got two good news. One, our class will be organising a fashion exhibition for Raffles Privato. We are still in discussion phase right now, but it's coming around several weeks from now. Two, I'll have my writings published at the Indonesian version of L'Officiel. I'm just super glad that I got to do something that is good enough to be shown in the world. Oh, and this internship is virtual (yep, this is where the world has come to) so I actually never met the people I'm working with in real life. I'm just hoping to make a good impression and be as helpful as I can.

If I do have to give a score to how well I did this term, I'll give myself a 5/10. I did enough, but I'm not satisfied yet. So I figured, maybe I'll take this term break to breathe and figure out what I need to do to step my game up.

To-Do List (Term 2)

Category: Class Reqs

  1. Week 1: Gantt chart of the whole year

  2. Refurbish the blog to make it more fashion focused. Maybe I would need a personal consultation with people with broader industry knowledge.

  3. April - May: Preparing event, which includes these for the early stages:

  4. Searching contacts for production

  5. Design and finalise concepts

  6. More to come

  7. ALL MONTHS: Do things that could sit pretty in my portfolio. Competitions, projects, collaborations...

Category: School / Portfolio

  1. April: My final month of internship, so I got to give my all. I also have to make sure that I manage my time between deadlines and college without neglecting either.

  2. May - June: I might have to shoot a fashion campaign for another subject (Future Fashion Innovators) during this period, so I have to make sure I am prepared for it, since it's not going to be easy. Well, as long as I enjoy the ride, right?

  3. June Break: For now this is a free period. Maybe I'll finally have time to find a photography or creative writing course. I don't think I'll be able to manage internship + event + Future Fashion Innovators at once. I might be able to, but it won't be a 100% effort to each and every responsibility.

Extra Category: Personal / Leisure (because we are a work hard - play hard generation)

  1. #antiboringlifemovement is my hashtag for 2017. Whatever happens, I don't want to waste my year. No more "Singapore is bore". Maybe it is a harsh truth but I'm doing what I can to make sure I'm having as much fun as possible. I'm only going to be 20 once anyway. Not wasting it. Nuh uh.

  2. Catch up with friends. Apparently there should be a new rule where "No matter what, you have to be the one who makes the first move to reach them".

  3. (Just a wish for now): I want to travel to a city where I actually enjoy the lifestyle of.

Disclaimer: The final category excludes neglecting schoolwork.
