The Future is Asian

A collage I made inspired by Kusama Yayoi, featuring an image from W Korea with a Wong Kar-Wai aesthetic.

As I was working on the 'Fashion Decades' assignment given out at class, I got myself into a thought: "So, apparently the history of fashion was written by Europe and USA?"

Where were us, Asians?

Is it our time now?

China is running for the top spot as the world's largest luxury market. The street styles of Seoul Fashion Week is featured in various international fashion media. Japan's Uniqlo is the third largest fashion company, behind Inditex and H&M. Myanmar and Vietnam's retail opportunities is expanding as the years go by.

Indonesia. I always have this belief that Indonesia has a great potential. It's a large manufacturing hub. The culture is richly diverse, and the people very lifestyle-oriented. Its e-commerce market is booming, producing many lovely local fashion brands/retailers.

Can we be the ones who shall write the next book on the history of fashion?
