PROJECT: Promotion Plan

For the past term, I was working on a major project for a subject called Future Fashion Innovators. The brief was to create a research project, choosing between a business plan or a communication plan. We were able to select an existing brand and assign it in a new market, or conceptualise a whole new business idea altogether.

My choice went to promotion plan. If you are asking why, I have two main reasons. One, I had my cake of business plan on my Advanced Diploma days. I want to try out something different, something I have almost 100% creative freedom in. Two, I'm someone who really, really likes aesthetically pleasing things (maybe being a Libra plays a part in this). Art, design, motion picture, photography and fashion are among those aforementioned 'things', so it was a natural choice.

I decided not to create a brand from scratch, but choosing an existing brand. I had 3 main contenders for my 6-month project: Zimmermann, Maison Kitsuné, and Self Portrait. At the end, I chose to do Maison Kitsuné in the Jakarta market because I believe that the market-product pairing works best in that one. It's a fun brand, merging the styles of two of my favourite cities - Paris and Tokyo. It works with the lifestyle seekers and life-enjoying pursuits of Jakarta's youths.

I have to say, it is not an easy project. There is a lot of writing and thinking involved. In the following weeks, I will have to come up with creative visuals as well. One thing I am sure of: I will give my all and I promise that the end result will be something I am proud to put inside my portfolio. So stay tuned.
