In my previous post, I discussed about what I aim to discover in Tokyo. Now, as the date of departure gets closer (as in, 24 hours), I shall round up the locations I would like to visit, plus what I want to do there.
109
Ten-nine is commonly called the trend hub of Shibuya. it's also located very close to the famous Shibuya intersection, so I think this one is definitely a will-visit.
MAISON KITSUNÉ
I did a project on Maison Kitsuné last term, so I would really love to find the time to see the products in person (throughout my research, it has been only a virtual experience)
HARAJUKU
Tokyo fashion is almost synonymous with Harajuku.
AKIHABARA
Since I'm quite interested in delving into the Tokyo subcultures, Akihabara is the place to go for the otaku (anime / manga lovers). This is the capital of anime goods.
SHINJUKU
From what I searched, Shinjuku is equivalent to the CBD of Tokyo. It's the home of local department store giants Isetan and Takashimaya. According to the book Where Stylists Shop, it has good vintage shops too.
GINZA
This one is more for the high end (window) shopping. It's a few minutes walking distance from our hotel, which is a major bonus. On my radar is Ginza Six, Dover Street Market Ginza, and the massive Uniqlo flagship.
DAIKANYAMA
Now this one doesn't pop out much, doesn't it? Daikanyama is said to be an upscale neighbourhood of Tokyo, filled with stores and cafes to match.
SHIMOKITAZAWA
Every city has a hipster outpost (Holland Village in Singapore, Newtown in Sydney), and Shimokitazawa is Tokyo's. Independent brands and flea markets dwell this area.
ROPPONGI
They called Roppongi 'a city within a city'. Truthfully, I would just visit Roppongi for the amazing view of Tokyo. Preferred time would be dusk or dawn to catch the pretty pastel skies.
